How to Watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Age-accurate actors. A by-the-book script. The author of the books producing and the biggest production studio backing it all up…put this all together and it becomes clear that Disney+’s series adaptation of the wildly famous Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan can only go right.

As it should! Us fans of Greek mythology have suffered enough since the first film came out in 2010. No offense to Logan Lerman, who somehow managed to fashion an iconic Percy despite the lacking script and poor set, but his film was an unfortunate example of how not to execute adaptations. You shouldn’t stray too far from the source material and you should have enough faith in your cast and crew to bring it all to life.

Based on some early reviews, it looks like that’s exactly what Percy Jackson and the Olympians did. But we can only know for sure when it premieres this week. So without further ado, here’s a simple guide on how and where you can watch the series.

Where to watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is set to premiere its first two episodes on Disney+ on December 20. [UPDATED] After Disney surprised everyone by moving up the premiere a day, new episodes of the eight-part series will now drop every Tuesday, 9:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM PT, on the platform.

Following talks of a possible Disney+ and Hulu merger, the first episode (and only the first episode) of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will also simultaneously stream on Hulu. It will be available on the platform until January 31, 2024, but who knows? If enough people stream, maybe they’ll release other episodes. Wishful thinking, but not entirely out of the realm of possibilities.

There are two ways to watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians: you can watch the entire season on Disney+ or the pilot episode on Hulu.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney+

Disney+ is quickly rising to be the streamer of choice in the US, but in case you’re not subscribed yet, here’s a rundown:

Disney+

The on-demand streaming service Disney+ gives you access to thousands of films and TV shows not just from Disney itself, but from partner studios like Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic, and ABC. It's a giant umbrella of content for a fairly reasonable price of $7.99/month with ads and $13.99/month without, but if you want even more, Disney+ offers premium add-ons you can stack to your plan, as well as the famous Trio bundle, which gives you Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ at a discounted price.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Hulu

“What is Hulu?” – said no one after the year 2010, but here is a refresher and a link to subscribe:

Hulu

Hulu may be on the cheaper side at just $7.99/month, but the on-demand streaming service boasts an ever-growing catalog of original series like The Handmaid’s Tale, primetime hits like Modern Family, and BBC imports like Killing Eve. It’s also where you’ll find FX’s critically acclaimed titles like Atlanta, Fargo, and Reservation Dogs. Hulu runs on ads, but if you can’t stand commercials, you can go ad-free for $17.99/month.
