While he’s currently shooting hoops for the US Olympics today, Golden State point guard Stephen Curry was also once a middle school student playing on his basketball team, and his unusual reunion with one of his childhood teammates is the subject of mockumentary Mr. Throwback.
The teammate in question is Danny, who once had a promising career like Curry, though it ended due to the unfortunate account of his father forging his birth certificate. Now, he’s down on his luck, in debt to Polish loan sharks, but fortunes might turn if he convinces Curry to make a charity for his daughter’s fictional illness.
Where to watch Mr. Throwback
All six episodes of Mr. Throwback streams on Peacock starting Thursday, August 8.
There is currently only one way to watch Mr. Throwback: on Peacock.
Mr. Throwback on Peacock
Peacock famously used to offer viewers a free way to watch their favorite shows online. But even though it no longer has a zero-cost option, it’s still home to a lot of must-watch titles:
Peacock
Apart from NBC sitcoms, Bravo reality shows, live news channels, and sports events like Sunday Night Football and Premier League matches, Peacock is also the streaming home to originals like Girls5Eva, Poker Face, and Bel-Air. A subscription costs $8/month, but if you want to opt out of ads and tune into your local NBC channel on top of all this, then you can choose their Premium Plus plan, which costs $14/month.
Who will be in Mr. Throwback?
Comedian Adam Pally stars as down-on-his-luck memorabilia dealer Danny, and his attempts to keep the illusion is told through a mockumentary style. He’s joined here with actress Ayden Mayeri and SNL’s Ego Nwodim.
But of course, Stephen Curry is the one to watch, taking his first ever television role poking fun at his celebrity status.
