How to Watch Halo Season 2

The second season of the highly successful video game Halo is set to premiere exclusively on Paramount+ early next year. If you’ve seen the trailer, you’ll know there’s much to be excited about, not least of which is the gloriously heavy amount of action the show promises (you’d think that a video game adaptation would be full of large-scale battles and gun-heavy sequences, but season one would prove you wrong).

Arguably, however, the most exciting thing about season two is the introduction of a new showrunner, David Wiener. While the first season was plagued with leadership shifts and troubles, which is rarely a good thing for the show, this time, it seems like Wiener will be staying for good.

Where to watch Halo season 2

The first two episodes of Halo season 2 will be available to stream on Paramount+ starting February 8, 2024. After that, a new episode will drop weekly on the platform.

There is only one way to watch Halo season 2: on Paramount+.

Halo season 2 on Paramount+

The Paramount brand barely needs introduction, such is the breadth of the network’s coverage, but just in case you’re wondering what its streaming arm includes, here’s a brief recap:

Paramount+

Paramount+ is an on-demand streaming service packed with original series like the Star Trek reboots, Billions, Yellowstone, and Fraiser, blockbusters like Top Gun and Transformers, and live sports from CBS. The ad-supported plan costs $6/month, while the ad-free plan costs $12/month. The latter includes offline downloads, your local CBS station, and the entirety of Showtime, which is home to fan favorites like Yellowjackets and The Curse.

New showrunner, new direction?

When crafting adaptations, you have to be creative enough to be original but faithful enough to the source material to avoid isolating fans and keep an already-established world’s internal logic. Look, it’s a daunting task! Turning a beloved video game into a streaming series was never going to be easy, and Halo’s first season is proof of that. It was mostly okay, backed by beautiful cinematography and a hefty budget, but it also deviated enough times from the game’s original course for people to take notice. And since it’s already based on a lot of sci-fi tropes, this didn’t exactly do the show any favors.

But now, with Weiner at the helm, it seems fair to expect the show to go a different, braver, and bolder direction. Weiner has, after all, The Walking Dead and Peacock’s Brave New World under his belt, so this should be exciting!

The first season is available to watch on Paramount+ and Pluto TV

There are currently nine episodes of Halo available to stream on Paramount+. If you already have a subscription, it should be fairly easy to find the show on the platform. However…

…if you’re not willing to subscribe to Paramount+ for now, then you’ll be happy to know you can watch season one for free on Pluto TV. It contains ads and is slightly less smooth than the above service, but it’s tolerable for the nonexistent price.

Pluto TV

Pluto offers live TV channels and on-demand content, but what sets it apart from most streaming services is that it's completely free (though like Tubi, not without ads). The platform is owned by Paramount Global, so expect to see a lot of old movies and reruns from the network, as well as titles from CBS, CW, BET, and Comedy Central, to name some properties.
