When the Argentinian series El Encargado (The Boss) quietly premiered on Hulu last year, it was instantly beloved by the few who saw it. The 11-episode dark comedy was fresh, smart, and highly addictive as it followed the adventures of Eliseo (the brilliant Guillermo Francella), a beloved concierge secretly and slyly scheming the wealthy tenants of the posh apartment he manages.
Privy to all their secrets, he finds a way to preserve his livelihood without exposing his true intentions. The last episode of season 1 left viewers on edge, so hopefully season 2, which premieres in a few days, picks up where it left off.

Season 1 was an unassuming delight for viewers who chanced upon the show on Hulu, but El Encargado’s biting comedy should come as no surprise to those familiar with directors Gastón Duprat and Mariano Cohn’s work.
