Despite its hefty monthly cost starting at $70, DirecTV Stream remains a top choice among cord-cutters. Such is the price to have everything you could ask for in one place, and a good ratio of entertainment, news, and sports content at that. Still, it can be quite overwhelming to learn all its ins-and-outs, particularly with its simultaneous streams rules—How many devices can actually watch at the same time? What do all these error messages mean?—and so, we’ve gathered the FAQs about it right here.
How many devices can watch DirecTV Stream at the same time?
Any number of devices can watch at the same time within the same household (that address being the one used as the billing address). Then, outside of that household or “home” address, up to 3 devices can stream simultaneously.
Do devices have to “check in with the home network?”
No. Unlike some streaming services like YouTube TV, devices outside the home address can be any device.
Which networks on DirecTV Stream have restrictions on unlimited streams?
Only the Fox channels (i.e. Big Ten Network, Fox News, FS1, FS2, Fox Deportes, and Fox local channels) have restrictions. These channels allow only up to 3 streams, whether in the home address or outside it.
Which networks on DirecTV Stream can you watch simultaneously without restrictions?
The Fox channels are the only exceptions. Every other network (e.g. Cartoon Network or MTV) does not have restrictions.
Can you share DirecTV Stream with other households?
Yes, you can do so with 2 other households (outside of the home address). But keep in mind the channels with restrictions listed above.
