The Traitors started as a Murder Mystery filled with intrigue, theatrics, and intense competition as celebrities and everyday people competed (and backstabbed!) their way to the $250,000 cash prize. But season 2 is kicking it up a notch by being the ultimate all-stars of reality shows. No more ordinary people, just full-on reality-star veterans from shows like Survivor, Big Brother, Love Island, The Bachelor, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and perhaps best of all, The Real Housewives, aka the pot-stirrers who up the ante and make the show much more watchable than it should be.
Hosted by Alan Cumming and set in a grand castle in the depths of the Scotland Highlands, season 2 is set to be even more intense, and likely more unrestrained, as reality show survivors battle among themselves for the coveted prize.
Where to watch The Traitors season 2
The new season of The Traitors will be available to stream on Peacock starting January 12. The first three episodes will drop all at once, followed by a new episode every Thursday at 6:00 PM PT / 9:00 PM ET.
This year, there will be an aftershow called The Traitors Postmortem that will be available to stream the day after a new episode drops. It’s a welcome addition (I always thought the 30-minute runtime was too short!) and one that will feature additional footage and interviews with eliminated contestants, similar to RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Untucked.
Right now, there’s only one way to watch The Traitors season 2, and that’s by streaming it on Peacock.
The Traitors season 2 on Peacock
Peacock famously used to offer viewers a free way to watch their favorite shows online. But even though it no longer has a zero-cost option, it’s still home to a lot of titles including, of course, reality shows like The Traitors.
Peacock
Apart from NBC sitcoms, Bravo reality shows, live news channels, and sports events like Sunday Night Football and Premier League matches, Peacock is also the streaming home to originals like Girls5Eva, Poker Face, and Bel-Air. A subscription costs $8/month, but if you want to opt out of ads and tune into your local NBC channel on top of all this, then you can choose their Premium Plus plan, which costs $14/month.
A Survivor nabbed the first season
It makes sense for the second season to do away with civilians and just recruit reality stars; the stars were arguably the best part of season one. Sure, non-celebrities like Andie and Quentin had heartwarming stories to share from back home, and their game was good enough to get them to the top four, but they were overshadowed by the celebrities’ larger-than-life personalities. Plus, they were too nice for their own good, and it was their faith in Survivor contestant Circe that bit them in the end. Circe ended up winning the game in a masterful, albeit manipulative, stroke.
With season 2 moving on to just famous people, it feels like the ground is more level this time. These people are no strangers to backstabbing, so it will be extra challenging for them to weave through all the lies. Personally, I’m excited to see how this season’s batch of Survivor masterminds, Twine and Parvati, will try to win their way into the pack since Circe’s victory has all but put a target on their backs.
